Developing a Clinical infrastructure

The AIMS-2-TRIALS Clinical Trials Network builds on the infrastructure that was developed by the previous project EU-AIMS. The Network now spans 37 countries (see partner list #pdf link with partners). It will conduct safe and high-quality trials of emerging therapies to support autistic people who may benefit from medical and other therapies.

To develop a high-quality Clinical Trials Network, AIMS-2-TRIALS will:

(1) Improve opportunities for networking and training
  • Develop a network of early-career researchers and support training opportunities, internships and lab exchanges
  • Organise satellite meetings and social events at conferences to facilitate collaboration and generate networking opportunities
  • Offer regular webinars on relevant research and clinical topics in autism, which will be open to staff members at each clinical network site
(2) Facilitate involvement in clinical trials
  • By acting as a single point of contact for potential research partners, we can facilitate and accelerate involvement in industry-led clinical trials in autism
(3) Enhance communication and dissemination
  • Publish regular newsletters
  • Disseminate press releases of the latest developments within AIMS-2-TRIALS, new publications and project outreach activities
(4) Translate research evidence into practice
  • Improve health outcomes for autistic people by providing clinicians with evidence-based clinical toolkits that will build their knowledge and awareness of relevant issues
  • Create education material for families and disseminate these across the clinical network
