General Information

The University Medical Centre Göttingen (UMG) is one of the largest university hospitals in Germany with Neuroscience as priority research area delivering outstanding science, research and teaching. The Clinic of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry/Psychotherapy (CAPP) is equipped with 30 inpatient and 20 day clinical beds distributed in 5 units plus an outpatient facility including special outpatient centres for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The departments’ research focus lies on studies on intervention and early detection in ASD and development of neural functions, cognitive brain research, neurolinguistics, general movement assessment and speech and language development. Among others, the spectrum of applied techniques includes methods for structural MR imaging (MRI), diffusion-weighted and diffusion tensor imaging (DWI/DTI), functional MRI (fMRI), EEG and eye-tracking. CAPP and the special outpatient centre for ASD diagnose and treat the majority of the local ASD population in and around Göttingen and Lower Saxony. The Department runs the so far largest BMBF-funded multicentre intervention trial on Oxytocin enhancement of SST in adolescents with ASD (ASD-net) and is member of the EU-funded study on epidemiology in ASD (ASDEU).

Role in AIMS-2-TRIALS

UMG will be part of the European Clinical Research Network, in developing a clinical trial network (CTN), which is trained to GCP standards that can implement standardised procedures to a high level of performance and integrity, as well as the project that will be testing new medicines.
