The Biozentrum is the largest department at the University of Basel’s (UNIBAS) Faculty of Science. The primary focus of this interdisciplinary institute is basic molecular and biomedical research and teaching. The Biozentrum holds a leading position nationally and internationally and closely networks with partners from the academic world and industry.

Role in AIMS-2-TRIALS

Peter Scheiffele and colleagues are involved in investigating the neurobiological mechanisms underlying neurocognitive domains implicated in ASD core and associated symptoms. Work at UNIBAS will particularly focus on social reward processing, novelty processing and cognitive rigidity. Finally, the Scheiffele laboratory will examine the neurobiological mechanisms through which medicines affect specific molecular pathways, circuit function, and behaviour.
