Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale, Paris, FranceGeneral Information
Founded in 1964, the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale, INSERM) is a public scientific and technological institute which operates under the joint authority of the French Ministry of Health and French Ministry of Research.
INSERM U955, Institut Mondor de Recherche Biomédical (IMRB)
The IMRB belongs to INSERM and to Paris Est Créteil University (UPEC). It is located in Henri Mondor Hospital and School of Medicine. It hosts 18 INSERM research teams among which the “translational psychiatry” laboratory (head Marion Leboyer), which is involved in AIMS-2-TRIALS.
Combining multiple approaches from basic neuroscience to identification of genetic and environmental risk factors to better understand underlying etiological mechanisms. In particular, major psychiatric disorders, such as bipolar disorder, resistant depression, schizophrenia, autism spectrum disorders, suicidal behaviours and addictions. We work in particular on immune and inflammatory pathways and on brain imaging dysfunctions. performed particular to disentangle the pathophysiological processes of major psychiatric disorders and to identify biological markers in order to develop personalised therapeutic strategies (testing psycho-social treatments, innovative molecules as well as biotherapies in resistant disorders).
Our laboratory also benefits from multiple infrastructures, successfully funded by the French Ministry of Research including:
- The private foundation FondaMental: This private foundation has been created by the French Ministry of Research in 2007, with the aim to improve early diagnosis and prevention of severe psychiatric disorders, to galvanise research in psychiatry, to improve education and communication on psychiatric disorders. As such, it coordinates four national networks of 35 expert centres in bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, resistant depression and autism. Each expert centre is equipped with anonymized e-medical files (FACE data bases) allowing systematic data recording and sharing between centres with extensive psychiatric, somatic and cognitive assessments, in order to implement a personalized approach to the care and treatment of each patient, as well as research projects. Thanks to the close links with the foundation FondaMental, we benefit from technical support of several engineers who are in charge of building and implementing computerized medical file, establishment and management of databases and bio-banks (fondation-fondamental.org)
- The laboratory of excellence labex Bio-Psy (paris-neuroscience.fr/fr/labex-bio-psy-laboratoire-de-psychiatrie-biologique-0)
- A cohort following 1000 young psychiatric patients (the cohort Psy-COH) as well as the cohort Info-R-Autism
- A university affiliated department (DHU PePSY)
Role in AIMS-2-TRIALS
We will be in charge of analysing the blood biomarkers related to inflammation and immune dysfunction across several biomarker research projects.
