Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, Radboudumc, Stichting Katholieke Universiteit, Nijmegen, The Netherlands

General Information

Radboudumc (RUMC) and the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour are a leading Dutch institute for medical research, with several groups specialized in top-level clinical care and research in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related neuropsychiatric disorders. The Donders Institute is devoted to understanding the mechanistic underpinnings of human cognition and behavior in health and disease. The Institute is home to more than 600 researchers from 35 countries who share the common goal of contributing to the advancement of the brain-, cognitive- and behavioral sciences through investigator-driven research, and improving health, education and technology by applying advances in this field. The Institute’s mission includes conducting interdisciplinary research of excellence at the unique interface between genetic, molecular and cellular processes at one end and computational, system-level neuroscience with cognitive and behavioral analysis at the other end.

Role in AIMS-2-TRIALS

Jan Buitelaar will co-lead and coordinate the work in the Biomarkers of Autism project (together with Eva Loth from KCL), and in particular lead the work on Longitudinal European Autism Project (LEAP). He will contribute to data collection and data analyses in the Preschool Brain Imaging and Behaviour Project (PIP) and may contribute through data collection and data analysis as part of the work in the European Clinical Research Network and project Testing New Medicines. He will further contribute to dissemination activities as part of the Policy and Communication projects and co-supervise PhD students and post-docs that analyse and report data on comorbidity, imaging genetics, normative modelling and MRI data as part of the Data Analysis project.

RUMC Lead

Christian Beckmann will co-lead the work in Data Analysis project (together with Thomas Bourgeron at IP), and will lead the Nijmegen team on data analytics/statistics. He will contribute to data repository set-up and integration of existing cohort data collected as part of the Biomarkers of Autism project, lead the data analysis core tasks for AIMS-2-TRIALS, and implement new tools for analyses of neuroimaging data.
